TAKING ACTION ON DATA
A small portion of all the data stored by an organization, called High Value Data (HVD), is responsible for the greatest opportunity for revenue and profit growth (or conversely loss and risk mitigation).
HVD is not necessarily comprised of recently accessed data. Instead, HVD is data that, as the term suggests, provides the opportunity for an organization to generate growth, gain a competitive advantage, or reduce risk.
The question is how does an organization know what data has high value, and what data does not? What data needs to be archived, and what data needs to be deleted?
Without the appropriate tools, valuing data and maintaining the value in data can be a burdensome and manual task. In fact, it often necessitates a suite of solutions that make data discoverable, so that policies can be deployed to take intelligent actions on that data.
